Cities of Things

How will we live together with intelligent things?

With the rise of AI (artificial intelligence) combined with IoT (internet of things), the concept of what is a “thing” shifts from passive artifact to active partner. Capable to perform tasks and make judgments, Things increasingly “work with us” to produce positive change in everyday life.

In Cities of Things, we focus on this changing relationship with intelligent things. Things that are services in the core. Things that are citizens. We build new knowledge in cooperation with the Cities of Things Delft Design Lab of the Delft University of Technology, and we build knowledge and experience through projects in partnership with industry and local governments.

With Cities of Things we are shaping the future of our cities with intelligent things.

In 2018 we established the Delft Design Lab Cities of Things. Through the research activities of postdocs and numerous graduation research projects, we build experience and knowledge on several aspects and domains of the cities of things.

From September 2020 a dedicated research will start into the role of Cities of Things to deal with climate change issues.

Knowledge lab future city mobility

Together with Advier we started the initiative to support municipalities in building knowledge on future mobility cities of things.

Field lab

We will share soon our plans for establishing a field lab in Amsterdam for experimenting with Cities of Things.
